It's easy to fall into selfishness during this period of recovery. Not being able to do very much for myself, i'm constantly asking Devon for "favors". i respect it is overwhelming for him. It has certainly put a lot of stress on our relationship.
Devon has his work, thankfully he works from home creating his fashions. But i can't keep bothering him for my silly simple requests.
It's easy for the person in a changing situation, caused my new health setbacks, to focus on themselves and seek the help and attention from others. That's part of the healing, is remembering it is not all about you. If you are able to do certain things for yourself, you need to do them. Just sitting on the sofa wont speed up your recovery. But know your limits. In most cases, this is just a temporary setback (something i'm having to remind myself of often).
It's so vital for continued recovery, and so your health doesn't worsen, to move. Even if it is extremely difficult to get up and move about, there are simple easy exercises you can do from the sofa. Just moving your arms, lifting your legs or other ways to ensure the circulation runs through your body, so you don't come down with pneumonia or a deeper depression.

One of the best and most important things you can do for your heart is to appreciate everything and everyone that is done for you. Let those around you know how much it means to you that they are there helping you. Understand and respect their stresses too.
Recovery isn't just about how you are healing physically ... staying positive, hopeful and grateful is so important to.
